From 2017 to 2020, WOSCA worked with communities in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj to build protection against climate change using a government program called MGNREGA.
Women and villagers attended meetings in their villages to plan and approve projects like check dams, rainwater harvesting tanks, pond repairs, and gully protection.
Communities were actively involved in planning and monitoring these works to ensure local ownership. These climate-resistant projects helped farmers in rainy areas grow more crops, strengthened village water and infrastructure systems, and created stable income sources for tribal families.
The initiative empowered local groups and women to fight climate challenges and build stronger, more resilient communities at the village and block levels.
