Economic Systems Assessment and Resource Mapping
Economic Systems Assessment and Resource Mapping is being carried out across villages in Harichandanpur Block, Keonjhar District, Odisha. The initiative explores how local resources, institutions, and renewable energy infrastructure — including the OREDA Mini Grid — can be harnessed to drive sustainable economic growth and enterprise development.
Through extensive field consultations, the project is documenting natural and agricultural resources, community infrastructure, market linkages, and social dynamics that shape livelihoods. It also identifies opportunities for the productive use of electricity, enabling rural households to leverage renewable energy for small enterprises and improved living standards.
The initiative places strong emphasis on livelihood and resource mapping, ensuring that communities have a clear understanding of their assets and opportunities. It also prioritizes market and value chain assessment, helping farmers and local producers connect more effectively to markets. Attention is given to seasonal and social inclusion analysis, making sure that vulnerable groups and diverse livelihood patterns are represented. A key component is the productive use of renewable energy, enabling households and enterprises to harness electricity for growth and improved living standards. Finally, the project is committed to strengthening local institutions and governance, embedding sustainability and resilience within community structures.
