OTELP Plus – Tribal‑Led Development
Driving livelihoods across 26 villages, reaching 14,256 people through SHGs, local enterprises, agriculture, and solar infrastructure—building dignity, resilience, and inclusive growth.
In Telkoi block of Odisha, the OTELP Plus programme advanced tribal‑led development across 26 villages, reaching 14,256 people, including 11,673 Scheduled Tribe members. WOSCA activated 249 Self‑Help Groups (SHGs), expanding local enterprises in grocery shops, tailoring, puffed rice, and goat rearing—empowering women and youth with dignity, autonomy, and new livelihood opportunities.
The project converged government schemes and local initiatives to strengthen livelihoods and infrastructure. Through MGNREGA works, communities built 26 stone bonding structures and maintained plantations, while State Plan support enabled solar borewells, grids, and a multipurpose center.
SHG‑led and individual enterprises flourished—grocery shops, Xerox centres, motorcycles—alongside agriculture across 145 hectares, where 646 farmers cultivated yam, maize, sweetcorn, watermelon, and pulses. Mechanization and capacity building were prioritized, with power weeders, sprayers, solar pumps, and regular CSP/VDC trainings. Goat disease management was aligned with government schemes, ensuring sustainability and resilience.
As OTELP Plus nears its final year, the focus is on consolidating successful models, strengthening market linkages, and documenting impact for replication at scale.
SHGs continue to drive economic activity, while solar infrastructure and mechanization boost productivity. The project stands as a testament to how convergence, community ownership, and tribal leadership can transform rural economies into inclusive, resilient systems of growth.
