WADI Development Programmes |
WADI is a holistic development programme to approach a sustainable livelihood through tree base farming system. The WADI programme is a horticulture development to implement the waste land development same as natural resource management, soil moisture conservation and to support social mobilization effort. WADI project covering 1000 acres of land in Banspal block of Keonjhar district of Odisha is proposed to enhance the food and nutrition security of 1112 Juanga families from 22 villages. The PVTG WADI project is working in 22 vilages of 6 GPs namely Bayakumutia, Kodiposa, Talachampei, Kuanar, Barahagarh. This is an integrated tribal development project for six years interventions designed in a holistic approach of food, income and market. A combination of mango, Cashew and Berry with forestry species on the periphery of the land holdings will constitute a WADI. There are 54500 plants provided such as 40,000 Mango trees, 11229 cashew trees and 3620 Berry trees provided to the tribal people. Apart from the WADI, other development interventions in the areas of environment, gender and health, soil conservation in the wadis, water resource development, agriculture development, women development, health are interlaced around the WADI for the overall improvement of the Juanga tribals. Apart from WADI areas in patch, individual farm land will also be developed through crop diversification on credit approach. WOSCA has provided 40 dug wells, 3 bore well, 1 drip irrigation, 2 patches of lift irrigation, 179 pump set, 1 Green house 7 nos of Power Tiller to the tribal people of Banspal Block. WOSCA has supported poultry for 100 Households, supported 75 nos of Spryer and supported 200 nos of Solar light to the tribal poeple. |
