CHILDLINE 1098: Protecting & Empowering Children in Distress
WOSCA, in partnership with CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF), implemented the CHILDLINE 1098 initiative to provide critical support and intervention for children in distress. This toll-free helpline became a lifeline for vulnerable children, ensuring rescue, rehabilitation, and social protection.
Key Impact & Achievements
Rescue & Rehabilitation Efforts – 266 orphaned children were rescued, with 65 presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Keonjhar, for necessary care and support.
Community Outreach & Awareness – Organized “Childline Se Dosti” week with key stakeholders, including Block officials, CDPO, IIC, MO I/C, ICDS functionaries, and media representatives, to spread awareness about CHILDLINE 1098 services.
School & Community Engagement – Conducted school rallies, awareness meetings, and stakeholder sessions to reach children, child care institutions (CCI), and communities, ensuring protective measures and education on child rights.
Targeted Support for At-Risk Children – Prioritized interventions for marginalized children, including street children, child laborers, abused children, victims of human trafficking, differently-abled children, mentally ill children, and those in crisis.
Through CHILDLINE 1098, countless children found safety, protection, and access to essential services, reducing vulnerability and promoting long-term rehabilitation. The initiative strengthened child welfare mechanisms, ensuring marginalized children received timely intervention and care.
