In the Harichandanpur block of Keonjhar district, accessing healthcare remains a significant challenge due to rugged terrain and lack of transportation services. To address these barriers, a modified four-stroke Motor-Bike Ambulance has been deployed, providing critical health support to pregnant women, sick children, and families in remote villages.

Enhancing Healthcare Access

Emergency Transport for Pregnant Women –  The Motor-Bike Ambulance, equipped with a first-aid kit and a sidecar with a mattress, ensures safe and timely transportation for expectant mothers to the Maternity Waiting Home (Maa Gruha), Revnapalaspal, and Community Health Centers (CHCs) in Harichandanpur. Since its inception, the initiative has facilitated 1,950 safe transports of pregnant women, significantly reducing risks associated with home deliveries.

PNC Check-up Assistance – 511 pregnant women were transported to MWH, Revnapalaspal, while 440 women were shifted for Postnatal Care (PNC) check-ups.
Vaccination & Child Health Services – Women health workers and ANMs identify and assist sick children from villages, ensuring they receive life-saving vaccinations and immediate medical care before being transported back home safely.

This program plays a lifesaving role, ensuring safe maternity care, child health interventions, and equitable medical services for vulnerable families in remote areas. By overcoming geographic barriers and healthcare inequities, it strengthens healthcare access in isolated communities, fostering better maternal and child health outcomes while promoting universal health coverage for those in need.
