Women’s organisation for Socio-Cultural Awareness (WOSCA)

WADI is more than just a farming initiative—it’s a movement toward sustainable livelihoods and stronger communities. Since 2017, WOSCA has been working to transform degraded land into thriving orchards, creating opportunities for families while preserving natural resources.

Covering 1,000 acres, WADI promotes tree-based farming to boost income security for vulnerable communities. What sets it apart is its focus on family-centric agriculture, where women play a crucial role in shaping the future of farming. Along the way, WADI has also made a meaningful impact on health and women’s empowerment in rural villages.

At present, WADI is active in Ghatogoan, Banspal, Keonjhar Sadar, Telkoi, and Sundargarh districts, creating lasting change one farm at a time. Beyond the orchards, families are embracing crop diversification on a credit-based approach, maximizing their yields and financial stability.

To support tribal households, WOSCA has provided dug wells, bore wells, drip irrigation systems, and lift irrigation patches, making water more accessible. Farmers now have pump sets, greenhouses, and power tillers to improve agricultural efficiency. Additionally, poultry farming initiatives have been introduced to create new streams of income, alongside sprayers and solar lights, with 200 units distributed to tribal homes.

At its core, WADI is about empowerment, resilience, and sustainability. It’s not just about planting trees—it’s about cultivating futures and strengthening communities for generations to come.
