Empowering Grassroots Governance: PRI–III Initiative in Patana Block

Strengthening Local Governance and decentralised planning (Panchayati Raj Initiatives-III) supported by Centre for World Solidarity (CWS) and implemented at Patana block from

WOSCA implemented a elected PRI members capacity‑building programme to strengthen grassroots democracy by training elected representatives on their roles and responsibilities. The initiative reached 16,800 people, oriented block and district‑level women forum members on child rights, health, and legal frameworks, and engaged villagers in public hearings on Forest Rights Act (FRA). Training on participatory planning for MGNREGA and orientation on community forest rights under FRA empowered local leaders to address village issues and advocate for better services.
The programme enhanced the capacity of PRI members and women’s forums, improved community participation in governance, and strengthened grassroots institutions to deliver inclusive development.
