Nutrition Facilitation Program

The Nutrition Program in Harichandanpur Block, supported by the Azim Premji Foundation, is designed to reduce malnutrition among children and anaemic mothers by improving nutrition well-being. This initiative primarily focuses on pregnant and lactating women, anaemic mothers, and children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM). To bring about positive behavior change, trained Poshan Sathis in selected Gram Panchayats reinforce nutrition-related practices, encouraging habits that lead to better health. Additionally, duty bearers are equipped with essential knowledge on anthropometric measurements, dietary diversity, nutrition counseling, and SAM & MAM management to enhance intervention effectiveness. A key component of the program is the Quick Response Team (QRT), which ensures timely assistance for critical cases of malnourished children and anaemic mothers. With a dedicated vehicle, beneficiaries are promptly transported to Community Health Centers (CHC) for medical support. The program also aims to reduce severe and moderate acute malnutrition among children below five years by strengthening community-based nutrition interventions. Through community cadre building, health service facilitation, growth monitoring, continuous follow-ups, and active engagement, this holistic approach enhances nutrition awareness and health-seeking behavior among households, leading to sustainable improvements in maternal and child health in Harichandanpur Block.
