Strengthening capacities and leadership of elected women representatives (EWRs)

To create enabling environments for the safe and productive participation of women and underserved populations in electoral processes in Harichandanpur and Banspal block of Keonjhar, WOSCA has been facilitating knowledge and awareness among Elected women representatives (EWRs) and voters on these topics through knowledge-based workshops, Gender Resource Centers, campaigns, workshops, Need Based workshop on Panchayat Acts, structure, etc Particular topics around which EWRs and federations advocate include the Two-Child Norm, constitutional acts and issues such as malnutrition, violence against women, and child rights. The Project is being implemented in 37 GPs of Patna & Banspal Block of Keonjhar block out of which 17 GPs belong to Patna covering 135 EWRs and 20 GPs belong to Banspal block covering 99 EWRs. The overall goal in this strengthening capacities and leadership development project is for the elected women representatives in the Panchayat to lead, own and shape development processes that give priority to basic services like water, sanitation, education, health care and an efficient food system.
