The CBBO (Cluster-Based Business Organization) project, implemented by WOSCA operates across 120 villages in eight blocks i.e Rajnagar, Kutchei, Kharsuan, Sareikela, Tatanagar, Kumardungi, Manoharpur, and Boram of Jharkhand’s Sareikela, West Singbhum, and East Singhbhum districts.
The project’s core objective is to enhance livelihood security for smallholder farmers and reduce seasonal migration from these rural areas. With a total membership of 5,123 farmers—comprising 2,488 male and 2,638 female farmers—the initiative aims to organize farmers into collectives to improve their economic resilience and market access.
A central strategy involves the formation and facilitation of eight Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
These FPOs serve as institutional platforms that enable collective procurement, processing, and marketing of farm produce, thereby helping farmers secure better prices and reduce input costs.
Supported by NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.), the project focuses on sustainable livelihood enhancement.
Through improved agricultural practices, value chain development, and collective bargaining, the CBBO project works to create a more stable income source, directly addressing food security and economic vulnerability in the region.
